Saw a new article from PCMag.com that has a current overview of "The Best Free Photo Software".

One tool the article reminded me of was Picnik. I looked at this online solution early on, but see they have added a number of new features that should make it easier for our clients to manage and edit some of their own images for site updates, blog posts, and other online uses. Definitely worth a new look.

If you have experience with Picnik, share your experience and opinion with us.
I've heard of Picnik but never tried it. I generally use regular software like Photoshop, Fireworks, Paint Shop Pro for editing images and creating templates and website graphics.

One cool online program I found is called Vector Magic. http://vectormagic.com/ I've used this many times to clean up old logos from clients that were not very crisp.

For batch resizing, I often use another free program called FastStone Photo Resizer (faststone.org). This program was handy for horse picture resizing I've done for www.canterusa.org (oh and that is a custom site design I did for them).

Picnik is good to use for quick editing. You get lots of cool free stuff with the free version, but even more with the paid version ($24 per year). If you have a paid flickr account then I highly suggest picnik.

Picasa and Windows Live Photo gallery are good too.
